Some terms to know

Cable chain (Rolo Chain): The necklace has round, uniform links; it is the most common of chains.

Figaro chain: This style features a pattern of three short links followed by one long link.

Wheat Chain: Oval and twisted oval links are connected and intertwined together.

Lobster claw: This fastener fits a round ring into an oval clasp.

Toggle: This clasp features a bar that fits through a ring to connect two sure ends of a chain. It is decorative as well as utilitarian.

What is the appropriate necklace length for me?

Different companies will often sell their chains at varying lengths, so you may want to resort to measuring neck size for appropriate necklace length. First keep in mind these standard sizes. They are for the average-sized neck; for larger necks, choose one size up.

Women's standard necklace lengths

16 inches	choker length
18 inches	at collarbone
20 inches	a few inches below collarbone
22 inches	at or above neckline
24 inches	below neckline
